Morrison, PhD Organized by the SfN Public Outreach Cluster Andy Grove, former CEO of Intel and Time magazine’s Man of the Year in 1997, is a strong advocate for accelerating the pace of biomedical research. Mr. Grove will discuss the promise and limitations of a new, unified systems engineering model for effectively translating basic neuroscience into new ways to fight brain disorders. He will also address how scientists can move the field forward by looking at their research from new perspectives and through building highly integrated, massive efforts that are disease focused. The relationship between such “big science” efforts and the currently dominant investigator-driven research model will be discussed as well. A panel of leading SfN members working on experimental therapeutics will discuss the potential for solving biological problems by “thinking o
