Can the Canon Pixma MX870 Scan Negative filmstrips?

In a way, you’ve already answered your own question. If you can’t find anything in the User’s Manual or anywhere on the web about scanning filmstrip negatives with your printer, then it’s a pretty sure bet that it’s not designed for it, nor does it have the necessary filmstrip adapter that would be needed if it was capable. Anything about that capability would have been included in the manual. I did check the specifications for your model printer, and it does not support filmstrip negatives scanning. Sorry. Trying to scan filmstrip negatives on a regular scanner, without the adapter, is a futile endeavor and will not work in any acceptable form. You’ll need to either get an all-in-one or MFP printer that does support that, or buy a dedicated filmstrip scanner just for that purpose. Best of luck.
