Standards of Practice 121 C 2 states that “A social worker shall not solicit a private fee or other remuneration for providing services to clients who are entitled to such available services through the social workers employer or agency without employer or agency approval.” To accept a fee from a private pay client on company time is obviously fraudulent, but many social workers working in mental rehab agencies work for the agency on a part-time basis. With agency approval, the social worker may see private pay clients on site as well but, of course, not at the same time he is billing Medicaid for services rendered.
