Can the Department provide recommendations for costs or for consultants to conduct needs assessments, project evaluations, etc.?
The Department cannot provide recommendations for consultants or vendors as this would be considered endorsement, which is not permissible. It is suggested that applicants do research on particular activities, vendors, and consultants to request quotes for budget formulation purposes. If these entities have worked with other IHEs in the past, these institutions can be contacted for references on the work that was done and on their specific experiences to assist in determining reasonable estimates for cost calculations. In addition, the REMS TA Center provides lists of previous grantees under the REMS and EMHE grants. A search can be conducted for specific regions to contact institutions that may have experience relevant to an applicant’s area.
