Can vegetarians eat gelatine?

There are no vegetarian police, people are free to eat and not eat whatever they like. It depends who you ask, when I was vegetarian I did not, it fell under the heading “Something had to die for this”.

Gelatin (from French gĂ©latine) is a translucent, colourless, brittle, nearly tasteless solid substance, derived from the collagen inside animals’ skin and bones No, vegetarians should not eat this.

I’m a pretty rubbish veggie and I occasionally eat gelatine, it’s not like the cow was killed for the gelatine, it was killed for the beef!

Yes, I am vegetarian and I love Jell-o! I don’t eat animal meat, but there’s nothing wrong with eating food from animal hoofs. I drink milk, eat it with cereal. Only vegans look at food with a microscope.

It is entirely your choice. Gelatine is made from fish bones, so if you don’t mind that then it is obviously o.k. to eat it.
