Can you clarify if an employer can nominate only the occupations on DIAC’s gazetted list or all occupations within the ASCO code range 1- 4?

All occupations listed on the Department of Immigration and Citizenship’s (DIAC) gazetted list meet the minimum skill requirement for Standard 457 visas. Employers in regional areas can apply for exemption from the minimum skill level under Regional 457 provisions if the occupation is not listed on the Gazette Notice. In this case the nomination has to be lodged with and certified by the relevant Regional Certifying Body (RCB). Under policy, for metropolitan employers Immigration SA as the RCB for South Australia will only consider Regional 457 nominations for certification if the nominated occupation is a skilled one within the ASCO code range 1 – 4. Further information regarding Regional Employer Concessions is also available from the DIAC website: http://www.immi.gov.au/skilled/skilled-workers/sbs/eligibility-regional.
