Having traveled with a toddler from NYC many times, I think your child will be the principal delimiter here on your options. Every child is different. Some can entertain themselves quietly and happily in a 4-star restaurant; others need a little more space and cause us to cringe at the thought of trying to do anything requiring quiet and no-running. You mention you have a daughter; so, my bias for girls will kick in and assume that at 3.5 she is not only accompanying the 2 of you to restaurants in NYC, but she can almost navigate a wine menu… 🙂 Wherever you go, you should plan to do primarily “family activities”. It’s not fair to the 3.5-year-old (and hence not fair to you) to spend a week in the Louvre. At her age, she will not remember much, so touring some exotic locale for her benefit is probably unnecessary. So here a few randomly sequenced ideas: • Fly to Virginia Beach, rent a car, and drive out to the northern Outer Banks of North Carolina (I like the area just north of Duck
