Cane Corso Mastiff – Where Did They Come From?
The Cane Corso Mastiff is the most Athletic and some say most fierce looking masiff breed available today. There Agility is comparable to that of a smaller dog, and their muscular structure speaks of unmatched strength. The Molosser, indigenous to Rome in ancient times was much like the mastiff today. The molosser was used by ancient people to hunt, and to aid soldiers in war. Their size and strength was apt to this type of work. However the molosser time fell with that of the Roman empire and the dog was crossbred with local hound dogs, This is when the cane corso first came on to the scene. With this new breed farmers had a strong dog that could easily help with the agriculture work. Their body was smaller than that of a full grown molosser and their agility like that of a hound.
