Brother, Where Art Though is the most similar to Homer’s tale. There exists many parallels between all three works for one main reason; whether talking about a movie, book, or conversation, if the story is good then people will be captivated. The story will be passed on forever if people appreciate the story itself. This is why filmmakers would base a movie on a centuries old tale. If the story is good then it will sell big time for all time. The Odyssey has much in common with Oh Brother, Where Art Thou. Both the movie and the book start with the same line: “Sing in me O muse.” The Greek name Odysseus translates to Ulysses (main character in The Odyssey and Oh Brother, Where Art Thou?) in Latin. Ulysses’ goal is to get home to Ithaca to be with his wife Penelope to save her from several persistent suitors.
