Anybody who is a frequent visitor to this forum knows that I am a proponent of credit restoration. But I also believe in education. If you are serious about credit restoration, here is an article I have written about credit restoration that will give you some tips on how to determine a legit company from a non legit company. Best of luck to you. The TRUTH about Credit Repair: Aren’t They All Scams or Illegal? This topic is a really hot one right now. People are falling victim to so many scam artists out there who are taking people’s money and offering false hope. What is credit restoration? If you are truly serious about cleaning up damaged credit the first thing I’d recommend you do is pay the credit reporting agencies (Equifax/Experian/Transunion) for a copy of your credit report. When you pay for the report you also get “dispute forms” that you can fill out regarding anything on those reports that is incorrect (if it’s been paid but shows that it hasn’t, etc). Send the dispute form in and wait. The reporting agency will contact the creditors and get the inaccuracies corrected. The report will also show who you owe, how much and since when. Start paying the past dues. Best to concentrate on loans, credit cards and mortgages first. If you can’t afford to pay them all off right away get ahold of the creditor and set up a payment schedule. If you don’t currently have any active credit and can’t get a “normal” credit card get a secured one. This will help you to reestablish yourself. PAY THE BILL EVERY MONTH AND PAY IT ON TIME!!! Keep the limit small…say 500 bucks or so..

Do you mean debt consolidation? Do you have unpaid or late bills? If so I suggest going to Care One Credit.com. They are really helpful. They will consolidate all your bills and work to get balances lowered and interest rates lowered. They will charge $30 per month, but you are paying for a great service. You won’t get anywhere with creditors, they want they money in full. They don’t care. DON’T PAY FOR YOUR CREDIT REPORT. You can get it free ( minus the score) on annualcreditreport.com. You don’t need to know your score right now anyway. It will list everything you owe and to whom. It can take you a few years to pay it off, and at first it will damage your credit. But after it is paid off, you credit will go up, since you will have no debts. Take control of your financial situation.
