On July 1, 942 – The Six Nations (Mohawks, Oneida, Seneca, Cayuga, Onondaga, and Iroquois) actually declared WAR on the Axis Powers. They were there, all volunteers, from the very beginning of US participation in the Atlantic Ocean, the Mediterranean Sea, Africa, Europe, and the entire Pacific Ocean Battle. The incredible Fighting Oklahoma Thunderbirds of the 45th division were famous in the Mediterranean Sea. The Thunderbirds were one of only TWO National Guard divisions to see combat.
