When Bill Inmon developed ideas about the ‘Corporate Information Factory’ in the 1990s he had already foreseen that this new approach would generate huge amounts of data within his Enterprise Data Warehouses. Therefore, he decided on combining Archiving and NLS solutions controlled using Cross Media Storage Management. With NetWeaver 2004s, SAP provides their customers with the realization Immon’s ideas about Data Warehousing. Under the title ‘Information Lifecycle Management for Data Warehousing: Matching Technology to Reality’, Bill Inmon gave an introduction on the NLS solution to one of our partners, SAND Technology.
