Do dragonflies bite? Are they ferocious prehistoric creatures?

Dargonflies do not bite or sting. But yes, they are prehistoric. There used to be ones with 2m wingspans as fossils have been found in very ancient mudstones, it would be good if they found a whole one in amber!!! When I was a boytjie I used to catch them and tie them to a thread, they would buzz around like helicopters on the thread and I would watch them go round, the thread always slipped off and they flew away in the end!!! The ones on the highveld were huge, or perhaps I was very small!!!
