Do equal slopes necessarily mean parallel lines?
If the slopes are the same, the lines are either parallel or they are colinear (meaning that they are actually the same line.) If they are not colinear then just think about it like this, you have two lines which have the same exact slope, this means that they will always stay at the same angle and will NEVER cross eachother. Then they must be parallel.
