Do gerbils live together or seprate like hamsters?

Gerbils are social, and should be kept in same sex pairs. Lone gerbils tend to live shorter, less healthy lives. Females are the dominant gender, so I don’t recommend getting more than two females together. Males, however, do better in larger groups. I don’t recommend getting more than three or four, though. Either a pair of males or a pair of females will do just fine together. My two gerbils do everything together. They eat together, sleep together, dig together, run on the wheel together, play together, and groom each other.
