Do Health Care Organizations Have Policies on Appropriate Use of Social Technology Tools?

Thirty-six percent of health IT professionals surveyed said their organization has a policy in place outlining the appropriate use of externally operated social technology tools by employees, according to a new Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society survey. Twenty-nine percent of survey respondents said their organization does not have a policy in place regarding the use of external social media tools, while 19% of respondents did not know if their organization had a policy in place. Meanwhile, 17% of survey respondents said that their organization does not have a policy in place regarding the use of externally operated social technology tools by employees but plans to implement one in the future. Results are based on a November online survey of 213 health IT professionals.
