Do i need my Dsl Modem or can i just use a Router instead?

Ill give you a quick explanation of how the router works. Your router acts like a hub for your modem. You plug your modem to your router. The router has two purposes: act like a hub for more LAN ports or put up wireless for your devices. If you want to run a wireless network you absolutely have to have both modem and wireless. What you can do is keep your current DSL modem and then buy a wireless router from the store. Your computer connects to the router, the router connects to the modem, and your modem connects to the phone line. Your wireless devices, PS3 and iPod, will use wireless provided by your router. I would recommend you buying a router because it not only gives your PS3 and iPod wireless connection, but also laptops. If you ever buy a laptop or have guests with laptop they can always use your connection. What you really want is a new router, not a modem.

You need a wireless router to hook to your existing Modem to set up a network.
