Do other folks think that “Oprahs Favorite Things” TV show is gross commercialism?
I completely agree with you – I think it’s nice that she gives stuff away to the audience members (who doesn’t like free stuff), but it really is just a 60 minute commercial backed by the force that is Oprah (and she is – she mentions a book and it rockets to the best seller list – God bless her). So this $150 “toy watch” (craziness I agree) and the other items, are delighted to get on her show and have her mention their products. I guarantees that their sales will go up. It’s a little frightening the power she holds on her audience.
