A session is a morning or an afternoon and therefore a term consists of 126 sessions or 63 days and the full three terms add up to 189 days. The induction period for a teacher working for 50 per cent of the time will need to last for six school terms (at a school that has a 3 term academic year). If an NQT is working in more than one school in the same term, and both posts form part of the induction period, one headteacher and Appropriate Body must be able and prepared to take overall responsibility for the induction programme.
