Do People live on the international space station?
The idea that people other than highly trained astronauts would someday live and work in space has long fascinated science fiction fans. Today, it interests professional space scientists and engineers as well. The Space Shuttle, in which anyone in ordinary good health can ride into orbit, was the first step in turning this dream into reality. The International Space Station will provide a permanent facility in orbit for continuing technical and scientific work. It will be operated by rotating crews from Earth, including personnel who are not career astronauts.
