Do people still wear school uniforms in public schools in the UK?

I attend a public catholic comprehensive school and we have to wear black shoes, trousers or skirts, a white shirt, a clip on tie, maroon jumper with the school logo, maroon blazer with school logo or instead of the blazer the school jacket.

Public school as in those that you pay for or state schools that everyone goes to? I’m only asking because some people think public school means what it says and it doesn’t in the UK. They do wear posh uniforms though, like Malory Towers. When I was at high school, I had to wear a uniform. It was a brown blazer, white shirt, brown tie with a yellow stripes and either blue, green, red or purple stripe for whichever ‘house’ group you belonged to. Like in Harry Potter. Prefects wore plain brown ties with the school badge. I wore a brown pleated skirt, brown tights and black or brown shoes. Apparently it looks smart. Although I never did and I was a House prefect.
