Do suit pants need something on them to connect suspenders?
There are two types of suspenders. There are alligator clips which can connect to any type of pants (jeans, dress pants, or khakis). However, the alligator clips are shiny and do show outside the pants making them a tad less formal. If you are wearing a vest that hides these and goes right below the belt line by all means wear them. However, the other type are button suspenders which have four holes in them to connect to pre-sewn buttons that typically come in any type of better men’s clothing pants. Also, many tailors or alteration shops can sew these buttons inside the pants at the desired width in which you tell them.
