Do tomatoes need anything special to grow indoors?

They’re not going to get enough light to fruit inside, most likely, even under the skylights. Generally speaking, you’ll need at least a 5 gallon pot to get much of a crop from a standard tomato if growing in containers. As soon as the soil temperature hits about 50o (or before if you want to use something like wall-o-waters) I’d get the tomato plants outside and into the ground. If you want to hand pollinate blooms, the easy way is to take the back of an electric toothbrush, put it against the stem near a flower and turn the toothbrush on for about 15 seconds. This mimics buzz pollination.
