Do windfarms impact on house prices?
As with effects on tourism, we have been able to find only very limited data on this, and most of that not really compatible with conditions here on Tiree. Of some relevance to Tiree is a Danish study referring to the HORNS ReV development where the proximate community, BlÄvand /Skallingen is a prime Danish tourist area with a large holiday/2nd home community. There was a 25 % decline in house prices. However, as noted above, house prices may well actually rise steeply during a period of sudden increase in workers moving to Tiree (if the O+M strategy is to base workers on Tiree).
