Do wireless enabled laptops have modems built in?
Yes, most wireless laptops still come with modems. Even though broadband Internet is in most houses today, it is not everywhere and therefore many people still rely on a dial up connection for Internet access. Plus many people still use modems for sending faxes. Sure, email has cut down on the need to send a fax but again, not everyone has email. But having said all that, when buying a low end laptop always check the system specs before buying. Some manufacturers have stopped putting modems in the low end units in an effort to save a few bucks. You can always add an external modem later but they are, in my opinion, expensive (about $50).
