I have an African Grey so I know for a fact that they need a cage! It is very important because the cage will make the bird feel safe. They actually like being in there cage, you may not think that but it is true! When I get home I usually open the cage door to let Rico (that’s him name) out of the cage and he most of the times will pop out for a few minutes and then go back inside while the cage is still open. Please be cautious, birds, especially African Greys, are like little children…they will get into any kind of trouble they can possibly can get into if left unattended for even a second! I learned my lesson the hard way when Rico was left unattended on his stand and reached over and ate a household plant that was potentially toxic to him. I had to rush him to ER and it cost me over $1,000 to get him better…thank God I had insurance. To keep on the subject though, I recommend you not only get a cage, but a fairly decent size.
