Does a dog whistle deter a dangerous dog (and other animals, i.e. bear, cougar)??
Some say that a dog whistle (which only a dog or other animals can hear) will actually SUMMON animals like bears and cougars (species: “Mellencamps”), while others believe that such will scare them away. I would recommend NOT using it, because the outcome (and effectiveness) isn’t certain. Instead, I would carry some tear gas spray or pepper spray with me, as many postal delivery people are known to do.
