If you are taking up residence in Alberta and need a license while you are here you can get it one of two ways. You can show your Ontario license and they will exchange it for an Alberta license. OR…since you don’t have an Ontario license you will have to come out here, write the test and get an Alberta beginners license and work up from there. Either way, if you get it in Ontario or Alberta you will still need to start out with a beginners level license and work up. Personally, I’d say to save your money and get the license out here. There is no need in paying for it in Ontario just to have to pay to transfer it out here when you can just get it here to begin with. The license restrictions on a beginners may be problematic for you depending upon what kind of driving you will want to do. As a new driver you are going to need a licensed adult in the vehicle with you in the passenger seat when you drive; you can’t drive from midnight to 5 AM and you can’t have any alcohol in your syste
