This was a regular treat at my house when I was a kid. It seems like it was a Sunday night treat for whatever reason, but that may be wrong. Just take off the paper label and place the can (still sealed) into a pot of water. Bring it to a boil then lower the heat. MAKE SURE YOU KEEP WATER IN THE POT!!!!!!!!!! Simmer for three hours. Let cool for an hour or so, then open and enjoy. It makes a very thick spreadable caramel. Delicious! It’s really good on apples, bananas or other fruit or just lick it off the spoon like we used to do when we were kids. I served this at a little dessert party once and you wouldn’t believe how many people asked for a recipe. When I told them what it was, they couldn’t believe it. Now, about that sentence in all caps and bold…. My younger brother and I were attempting to make ourselves a treat with SCM and started the can in a pan of water.
