Does CBS SUCK?
Honestly? I don’t blame CBS for the proliferation of umpteen thousand crime/forensic shows and reality shows. That is the fault of the American public. I’m sorry, but I cannot believe how many people watch Criminal Minds, the CSI’s, etc. Not to mention all of the reality junk. Do you know how many millions of Americans watch the horrific and exploitative “Moment of Truth” on Fox? It’s sickening. I would love for networks to keep around quality shows, but if they don’t get the ratings (and/or the critical acclaim – at least Friday Night Lights seems to be riding on that for now) then there isn’t much the network can do. It’s expensive to produce shows, and if the ratings aren’t there, then the advertisers won’t pay as much. (And, yes, they probably cut ad rates. That is how they got any advertisers at all. It’s not like they were charging “American Idol” ad rates or anything.) Plus, serialized shows don’t tend to do as well (or command as much money) in syndication as do crime shows and
