Does drinking alcohol cause constipation?

I dont really think anything in alcohol causes constipation. It is liquid and is mainly processed by the liver and kidneys, not the digestive system. Many people believe that a lack of fiber in the diet causes constipation. I used to have this problem years ago. Then I read an article written by a doctor that said constipation is actually caused by a lack of lubrication (oily things) in the bowels, not a lack of fiber. The lack of lubrication causes the movement of waste through the bowels to slow way down, thus causing constipation. The article suggested incorporating omega-3 oils, such as flax oil, into the diet, to solve the problem. I buy it in pill form, and take it every day, and am never constipated any more.
