Does my boyfriend have short term memory loss?
I don’t think that your boyfriend has short term memory loss. I think if you were to look into his previous relationships with other girls, friends and family members you will discover that he has most likely always been that way. Our moral values are instilled in us by the age of 3. I know that sounds crazy but that particular fact is true. By the time we are three we have already determined our basic moral values. The difference between good and bad, right and wrong, nice and mean. It is in the first few years that parents are supposed to help children learn to be kind and considerate to others. A lot of times also, if a child is spoiled, the have problems in adulthood with becoming independent, caring individuals. If he can’t see that he is doing it then he most likely will never change. You can probably tell him a hundred times and he will continue to put himself first, over and over again. You can either accept him with these flaws and continue trying to point them out in a civil
Juliette, Unless your boyfriend has Alzheimer’s disease (which I doubt), it sounds like his indifference to you by not absorbing what you have told him repeatedly is that he never either never learned to listen or is so into his own needs and wants and his own thoughts and ideas he just doesn’t care. Been there done that. Your ideas, thoughts and opinions should matter and caring for you means that he should respect you enough to listen, actively listen to what you have to say in the relationship. Remember there are two of you in this relationship and a one-way dialogue is not an option. Maybe he will listen if he hears your footsteps out the door. Good Luck!!!
