Resident programs and services run the gamut from referrals for healthcare, job training, and job applications to classes for homeownership. Almost all of our programs support the goals of self-sufficiency by encouraging personal responsibility. A resident services specialist in each NRHA public housing neighborhood coordinates opportunities for residents to develop or enhance their social, educational, and employment skills. Their improved skills contribute to the empowerment and economic independence of the individual, the family, and the community. Family Self-Sufficiency Program Through this program families learn to set and reach goals. Working with their neighborhood’s resident services specialist, each family identifies goals that will help them become self-sufficient and economically independent.
