There are cage dryers that are low heat or NO heat that groomers use as well. They have timers. The ones you have to worry about are dogs that are under dryers with NO timer, and are left unsupervised. I am a groomer, and I have a cage dryer. Mine is low heat with a switch to turn it off, and no dog goes longer than 5 minutes. I am also certified by the Red Cross in Pet First Aid and CPR and know the signs of heat exhaustion. It’s not the cage dryers you have to fear, it is the person using them. Make sure the salon you go to is always supervising your pet. Make sure their kennels are always in the line of sight, that water is always available, and that the salon isn’t overbooked, causing less one on one attention. I don’t know if PetSmart uses them or not. Call and ask. Ask to see the. grooming area. I never have a problem letting clients do a walk through before booking their pet.
