Does switching from verbose to brief mode make prompts briefer?

No. Changing to brief playback mode doesn’t change the length of the spoken messages (like it did in Digital Sound). Brief changes it so it does not play the number of new or saved messages, does not play your name and does not play your mailbox status when you first log in, and does not play message envelope information (including the date and time received) when you listen to messages.
