Does the ADCP believe cleanings should be done by a dentist instead of a hygienist?

No. In fact, many Dentists have Hygienists working in their offices to perform the duties related to scaling and polishing. However hygiene is just one part of preventative care. Having a dentist on hand to review the patient’s history, perform an oral exam, analyze x-rays and diagnose, is the best way to make sure any potential concerns are dealt with in a timely manner.
