Does the Central Asian Shepherd have any Hereditary Genetic diseases?

Yes, they do. The well bred CAS is a vigorously healthy. As with many of the large breeds, the CAS should be at a minimum screened for Hip & Elbow Diseases. Never buy from breeders who claim that due to natural selection this breed does not require screening for Genetic diseases OR USE TERMS SUCH AS “Health Tested” or I feed VITAMIN C or WARRANTY. This is a PLOY 100% not disclosing the facts of what they are breeding. Insist on Ofa-GDC or Penn Hip scores on Both sire and dam. And ask them if any of their dogs are HD Free of if any of the dogs they bred are HD FREE? Check the OFA Database.http://www.OFFA.org. Ask the breeder for All relevant medical data available on their lines in which they are breeding. AS of 2003 the only USA Breeders breeding & producing HD Free stock are member of the Central Asian Shepherd of America. Severe dylpastic dogs have turned up in Nevada & Californa.
