Yes. As a condition of graduation, students seeking a masters degree in Global Policy Studies will be required to demonstrate a level of proficiency equal to or above the completion of the fourth semester, at the college level, in one foreign language. Students will have the option of demonstrating their proficiency by submitting transcripts of college-level coursework or by exam through the University of Texas. Check with the Instructional Assessment & Evaluation (IAE), 471-3032, regarding placement exams. Students who are admitted to the MGPS program and do not have the proficiency in a foreign language required for graduation are strongly encourage to begin their foreign language studies the summer prior to enrollment in the LBJ School.
