A. Yes, returning home to address family emergencies is an important privilege offered to our Sailors. Emergency leave is allotted to service members ashore, afloat and overseas by unit commanders, or their designee, when the presence of the service member will affect the family’s welfare during a family emergency and when the operations of the command can logistically and tactically support the Sailor’s departure from the command.
