Does the PS2 have a built-in Dolby Digital 5.1 or DTS decoder?

Pretty much any digital 5.1-channel A/V Receiver or Pre/Pro on the market will have built-in DD 5.1 and DTS decoding (you’d really be hard-pressed to find one that doesn’t). To enjoy DD 5.1 or DTS 5.1 YOU WILL NEED one of the two aforementioned products (and five channels of amplification if you’re using a Pre/Pro), five speakers (L,C,R,SL,SR) and a subwoofer. For those getting started with surround sound home theater, stores like Best Buy and Circuit City have a wide selection of quality entry-level HTIBs (Home Theater In a Box), which include a digital receiver and five satellite speakers plus a sub for very affordable prices, and many now include a DVD player built in to the receiver (so you can avoid wearing out your PS2 by using it as your primary DVD player). If your PS2 is your only source component then all you need to make sure of is that the receiver has an optical digital input (again, it’s hard to find one that doesn’t). If you want to hook up other source components to you
