Does the Register include Scheduled Monuments?
A scheduled monument is a monument of national importance that Scottish Ministers have given legal protection under the Ancient Monuments and Archaeological Areas Act 1979. Scheduled monuments are specifically excluded from the Buildings at Risk Register as a matter of policy, agreed with Historic Scotland, as the designation carries with it a presumption against development.
