Does the S5 have a soft modem?
No, Psion plans to use a real hardware external modem or the inbuilt modems of some GSM phones. However, at the CEBIT fair in Germany (April 98), Psion have demonstrated their EasyGSM program that will allow you to use some GSM phones with no modem (like some Nokia phones), but simply a cable to connect the Psion with the mobile phone. The Series 5 can communicate with certain phones, such as the Nokia 9000i and Ericsson SH888 via its IrDA port. These phones have a built-in modem and can be used by the Series 5 to access the Internet or remote systems without extra hardware.
