No, but we highly recommend it. Travel trailers have two holding tanks; one for grey water (kitchen sink, bathroom sink, and shower waste) and one for black water (toilet waste). The grey water tank holds approximately 30-35 gallons, and the black water tank holds approximately 10 gallons of waste before needing to be dumped. If the trailer is connected to a sewer hook-up then the occupant will have unlimited use of water because the waste water is continually draining into the sewer. If the trailer is without a sewer hook-up, the tanks can fill up FAST if the campground facilities are not used for showers, etc. If a water tanks become full, waste water will back up into the shower. Important note regarding boondocking: We will not empty waste water tanks until after check out.
