No, but we highly recommend it. Travel trailers have two holding tanks; one for grey water (kitchen sink, bathroom sink, and shower waste) and one for black water (toilet waste). The grey water tank holds approximately 30-35 gallons, and the black water tank holds approximately 10 gallons of waste before needing to be dumped. If the trailer is connected to a sewer hook-up then the occupant will have unlimited use of water because the waste water is continually draining into the sewer. If the trailer is without a sewer hook-up, the tanks can fill up FAST if the campground facilities are not used for showers, etc. If a water tanks become full, waste water will back up into the shower. Important note regarding boondocking: We will not empty waste water tanks until after check out. Santa Barbara Silver Safari is not responsible for any malfunctions of the vehicle whatsoever, due to boondocking. No refunds will be given for boondocking malfunctions.
