Does thick blood and lots red blood cells cause cancer?

0

All cells, including red cells are produced through our bone marrow, red blood cells live for 100-120 days than go to our spleen to be “digested”. Some of us produce more red blood cells than our body needs and it causes our Hemoglobin and Hematocrit levels to be very high, and most of these people have to have what is called a “phlebotomy”, it is similar to donating blood but it cannot be kept so it is disposed of. This will keep the blood at a normal consistency, no your husband is not going to die and it is not cancer. What this can cause is higher blood pressure, and some strain on ones heart due to increase in blood volume but is usually maintained with blood thinners and phlebotomy’s. Good luck and try not to worry about cancer, please talk with you husbands doctor and he or she can give you some peace of mind.
