Does this sound like pneumothorax?

Apart from the crackling sound and difficulty breathing, I don’t think you have a pneumothorax. You must get yourself to A & E though, especially as you suffer from asthma. You may well have a serious chest infection but without the cough! I had a spontanious pneumathorax several years ago – I thought I was having a heart attack when it happened. It happened all of a sudden with a huge pain going around my chest. The pain was excruciating and this was also around my whole chest and down my left arm. My throat/thorax felt like it was being dragged and squeezed tight and beathing was really difficult. By the time I managed to get to my doctors, I was on my hands and knees gasping for air. (In the space of about 2 hours..I even managed to drive car to doctors NOT recommended!) An ambulance was called immediately and at the hospital I was given oxygen, x-rayed and then had a group of young trainy doctors around me asking questions LOL I could hardly breath never mind talk Ha Ha! Eventually
