Does thrush cause diaper rash?
Since the diaper area is almost always dark, moist, and warm, it becomes an ideal place for yeast to over-colonize and become a problem for the newborn. The skin becomes irritated and the tissue around the rectum begins to break down causing a very characteristic rash. One of the obvious signs of thrush in babies is the presence of a rash that is red or very bright pink with classic red or white raised pustules or bumps. The thrush rash is usually very well defined or localized, but may occasionally spread out and become diffused throughout diaper as well as genital area.
