Does United Way of Allegheny County provide funding to the Boy Scouts?
Yes. United Way of Allegheny County’s Community Fund supports three programs operated by the Boy Scouts of America/ Greater Pittsburgh Council: Scouting for Food, Youth at Risk and Learning for Life. Contributions also may be made directly to the Boy Scouts through the Contributor Choice option. Our mission is to serve as a catalyst to improve the quality of health and human services in our community. To accomplish that, we must bring together citizens in support of programs that enhance our region. We believe strongly that thousands of local boys benefit greatly from the Boy Scout’s proven record of safe, structured after-school programs.
