All cellular PVC trimboards expand and contract with changes in temperature. The coefficient of linear expansion for VERSATEX as defined by ASTM test D696 is 3.25 x 10-5 in/in/F. In layman’s terms, depending on the outside temperature you should allow approximately 3/16″ for expansion or contraction in an 18’ length of board.
