Absolutely not! If adopted, this measure will give our elected representatives the opportunity to explain exactly why they wish to increase government programs and spending and to obtain timely input from those that will have to fund the proposed increases in governmental budgets before those increases take effect. We elect our officials and charge them with prioritizing how limited tax dollars will be spent, not to decide how much of what we earn will be taken. In a democracy where government is “of, by and for” the people, the people must have a direct and meaningful way to tell their elected representatives their wishes especially when it comes to the tax burden they are asked to carry.
