In actuality, it doesn’t doesn’t help because you’re harming yourself, but sometimes you feel so messed up (emotionally/mentally) that it seems like the physical pain is easier to deal with than the emotional pain, and that it will distract you. If you’re going to do it, don’t. Talk to someone instead. Just to answer your question, razorblades are the best, but don’t cut, please. When I feel that desperate, I find that it helps to write about how I’m feeling and what’s going on to get all of my frustration out. If I didn’t do that, I probably would have hurt myself a lot.
